Having a good personality is fine but being a person of character is golden. Character will take us places we’ve never imagined. It’s that consistent, unbiased foundation of a person that people can rely on.
Being a person of character means that whenever someone calls your name, more times than not; there is an unanimous conclusion ( hopefully good…lol) of who you are. Be it family, friends or your first encounter with complete strangers, who you are will always stand out in any situation.
On the road to success, personality alone just won’t cut it. Having a good one helps, don’t get me wrong but personality without character makes you a “character.” Someone who puts up a good front for a period of time until something that requires you to dig a little deeper comes along.
For myself, I strive daily to be a person of my word. All we have in this life is our name and our word…what does yours say about you? When your name is called, immediately people are going to relate it to how you act( personality) or who you are( character). It’s very easy to get the 2 mixed up at times; especially when we have “played the part”for so long.
Character building is a must if we plan on getting anywhere in life. It is a challenge; requiring us to get rid of some old habits, thought patterns and maybe even some people who just aren’t meant to be in our circle. “Bad company corrupts good character”…enough said.
Now is the time to ask ourselves a serious and maybe even painful question…am I a person of Character or am I a Character? Which do you prefer? The choice is yours.
